Mr. Sofwan recently participated in a productive meeting between the Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KADIN) and the Japan Transport and Tourism Institute, aimed at strengthening cooperation in the logistics sector. The meeting marked an important step toward establishing a dedicated Working Group focused on enhancing logistics efficiency and resilience across Indonesia.
During the discussions, both parties exchanged insights on the development of multimodal transport infrastructure as a key enabler of seamless logistics flows. Emphasis was placed on improving connectivity between sea, land, and air transportation to reduce costs, shorten delivery times, and support national and regional supply chains.
Another major focus was the enhancement of capacity at strategic logistics hubs, including ports, industrial zones, and distribution centers. The participants highlighted the importance of optimizing existing facilities while planning future expansions to accommodate growing trade volumes and support Indonesia’s role in regional and global logistics networks.
The meeting also underscored the critical role of digitalization in logistics operations. Topics included the adoption of integrated digital platforms, data-driven decision-making, and automation to improve transparency, efficiency, and coordination among stakeholders. In parallel, investment in human resources development was identified as a priority, particularly through training, knowledge transfer, and collaboration to build a skilled and future-ready logistics workforce.
Looking ahead, the establishment of the Working Group is expected to facilitate sustained collaboration between KADIN and the Japan Transport and Tourism Institute. Through joint initiatives and continuous dialogue, the partnership aims to contribute to the development of a more efficient, competitive, and sustainable logistics ecosystem in Indonesia.
