As part of Denmark’s broader commitment to supporting the transformation of the global maritime and shipping sector, the Embassy of Denmark in Indonesia and ASEAN continues to strengthen collaboration with strategic stakeholders from both the public and private sectors. These engagements are essential to sustaining meaningful dialogue and advancing shared solutions to the challenges and opportunities shaping the maritime industry.
Within this framework, Dr. Ir. Sofwan Farisyi, MM, CSRS, CSRA, took part in an important introductory meeting between the Indonesian National Shipowners’ Association (INSA) and Denmark’s newly appointed Maritime Sector Advisor, Dagmar Hernández Thomsen. The discussion formed part of the Maritime Strategic Sector Programme led by the Danish Maritime Authority in close cooperation with the Embassy and Indonesian partners.
During the exchange, Dr. Sofwan actively contributed perspectives on the current dynamics of Indonesia’s maritime industry, particularly in relation to sustainability, competitiveness, and the ongoing green transition. His engagement reflected the growing role of Indonesian maritime professionals in shaping forward-looking policies and industry practices aligned with global developments.
The dialogue, also joined by Carmelita Hartoto and Ganny Zheng, underscored the importance of collaborative leadership and international cooperation in navigating the future of the maritime sector.
Such discussions reinforce the value of constructive partnerships in building a resilient, sustainable, and globally connected maritime industry—an agenda in which Indonesian leaders like Dr. Sofwan play an increasingly strategic role.
